Arabian Sea tropical cyclones intensified by emissions of black carbon and other aerosols

Increased emissions of black carbon, sulphates and other polluting aerosols have altered the atmospheric circulation in the pre-monsoon season over the Arabian Sea, leading to decreased vertical wind shear. These anthropogenic emissions appear to have caused an increase in the intensity of tropical cyclones in the pre-monsoon season.  More details in http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v479/n7371/full/nature10552.html?WT.ec_id=NATURE-20111103
